Managing the large number of competitors, officials and tourists attending the Olympics can present a challenge for the existing capacity of transport hubs in host cities. There are added complexities too, such as processing and transporting approved firearms to venues for the shooting events and putting special measures in place for processing members of the Olympic family. The main transport hubs for the Games are therefore the front line of both security measures and the reputational face of the host city.
